Yes, our Golf Outing is a fundraiser that supports our Employment Services programs – but what does that really mean? It means giving people the chance to chase their dreams, find independence and change their future.
Pathfinder will hold their 2nd Annual “Caddyshack” Golf Outing on Friday, September 26 at Etna Acres Golf Course, 9803 W. County Road 600 S, Andrews. The golf outing begins at 1:30 p.m.
When you read Holdyn’s story, you’ll see the power of opportunity in action. He’s not just a “program success” – he’s a young man building his own path.
By registering your team for the Golf Outing, you’re not just signing up for a fun day on the course – you’re helping create more stories like Holdyn’s. More victories. More hope. More lives changed.
For those who have already registered, this is the real impact you are making!
This is Holdyn’s Story
Meet Holdyn, he is a 24-year-old from Huntington, who loves cars, bowling and hanging out with his dogs. He studied automotive technology at Ivy Tech, fueled by a lifelong love for cars that started with Matchbox toys that runs deep in his family.
Holdyn is on the autism spectrum and lives with a progressive eye condition that makes seeing the world like looking through a dartboard – clear in the center, dark and fuzzy around the edges.
This is a story about how, with the right people and a little teamwork, obstacles can turn into new roads forward.
Holdyn’s journey shows what’s possible when an entire community comes together. After college, he and his family turned to Pathfinder’s Financial Opportunity Center (FOC). That’s where he met Daniel Hawkins – an employment specialist who does more than just match people with jobs.
Daniel explains, “Part of what we do is holistic – we don’t just look at employment. We help with benefits, budgets, Medicaid, Social Security – all the pieces that can be barriers.”
When Holdyn was referred through Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Daniel got to work. They explored goals, found assistive tech-like special glasses and lighting, and leaned on connections to find just the right fit.
“Networking is huge in a smaller community,” Daniel says. “It was about knowing the employers, the family and finding a place where Holdyn would love to be.”
